Currently, GCV&M offers selected digitized collections, and staff members are working to add additional resources to reflect our diverse and robust collection of 19th-century American material culture. The Genesee Country Village & Museum began collecting objects in 1968, and its collection has since grown tremendously through gifts, bequests, and purchases. The collection encompasses objects pertinent to the Genesee Country and to the people that inhabited the area between the 1750s and 1900. With an estimated 23,000 objects in the collection, including historic objects, buildings, photographs, archival documents, paintings, sculpture, clothing, and primary source and reference book material, the opportunity for discovery and research is endless. The Genesee Country Village & Museum encourages anyone with an interest to dive into what the collection has to offer through our online collections.
